For 36 years, the Chilly Hilly has helped kick off the cycling season in the Northwest. With Bicycling Magazine’s endorsement as “One of Four Classic Rides” in the nation, the 33-mile course circles Bainbridge Island. It climbs 2,675 feet and promises its participants free baked goods, hot cider and a finish-line chili feed to raise money for Bainbridge Island charities and the Squeaky Wheels Bicycling Club. Feb. 28.
Need a bike in time for the Chilly Hilly? One day earlier, the Seattle Bike Swap brings over 100 vendors to Magnuson Park for a day of fantastic deals on new and used bikes, parts, gear, clothing and more. For five bucks, you are welcome to browse and bargain-hunt to your bike-loving heart’s content. Feb. 27, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Magnuson Park Hangar #30
