Seattle Marathon Nov. 29
Traffic advisories are in effect for Seattle the morning of Sunday, Nov. 29 when the annual Amica Seattle Marathon takes place.
Runners and walkers will start from Fifth and Harrison, at the foot of the Space Needle. Half marathon walkers start the event at 7:15 a.m. with full marathoners beginning at 8:15 a.m. The tour takes participants across the I-90 Floating Bridge Express Lanes, around Seward Park, along Lake Washington Boulevard to Interlaken Boulevard, and over to Boylston and Republican avenues before heading back along Mercer Street to the finish line inside Memorial Stadium.
Last year, Stuart Burton of Beaverton, Ore. and Annie Thiessen of Tacoma won the men’s and women’s divisions of the race. Both were first-time winners of the race.

Eugene Marathon announces Hayward Field finish
After burning through a half or full marathon, racers of the Eugene Marathon next spring will experience the thrill of making the final stretch on the grounds where legends were made. As Race Director Richard Maher puts it, “…after 20 plus years, we’re bringing a road race finish back to the track where it all began. Hayward Field is considered by most running enthusiasts as the Mecca of the sport… We feel this is going to make it an even more momentous experience for the participants.”
The stadium has hosted four Olympic Trials, six USA Track Championships and is the site of several of Steve Prefontaine’s record-breaking moments. The 2009 Eugene Marathon attracted 6,300 runners from around the world. The date for the 2010 race is Sunday, May 2.
