Riding to the “P” in Vancouver, B.C. 05/07
Last February I committed to doing this year’s Ride from Seattle to Vancouver, B.C. and Party (RSVP), a 200-mile trek north in August. (I wondered how hard you could “party” after riding this long over two days, but imagined it could be possible. I was up for the challenge.)

Hop On the Single Track 07/06
It was the best bike I had ever ridden. It had disc brakes, full suspension, beefy tires and adjustable everything. This dream machine was also the first bike I had touched in nearly six years. Yet somehow, I was supposed to get it to jump, ride down steps, conquer see-saws and a list of other maneuvers that caused me to cinch my “body armor” a bit tighter.

Lighten Your Load 02/06
Today’s bicycle lights make commuting a breeze
Rather than hibernating during the Pacific Northwest’s dark and wet winter months, hardy bike commuters gear up to face the storm. While impenetrable rain gear is key, durable bicycle lights could save your life. But just like any technical piece of gear, finding a bike light that fits your needs can be a daunting task since they come in many shapes and sizes and their prices run the gamut. We’ve tested a few of the industry’s best water-resistant illuminators to help encourage you to get back in the saddle during the winter....

Scenic Singletrack 08/05
While I strongly adhere to the old axiom, “life is a journey, not a destination,” when it comes to mountain biking, I often feel the reverse. More often than not, when you head out for a day of riding on singletrack, you’ll have to face more than a few long grunts up narrow, gnarly trails. While you won’t find a hot tub or a luxurious bed at the end of your slog, the trail will often reward you with panoramic views that cross county lines, capture distant lakes and put you eye-to-eye with soaring hawks. Finding a scenic destination can turn a mediocre trail into a new favorite.
