From the well-known Susan G. Komen for the Cure comes a fun, feel-good solution to your winter blues. The Tubbs Romp to Stomp 3K/5K snowshoeing event is designed to do what the Komen Race for the Cure does so well in warmer months: empower people, promote well-being, and raise money for breast cancer research.
Never snowshoed before? No sweat; 25 percent of participants have never donned snowshoes until the day of the event. The Northwest hosts two of the seven North American series events in 2010: Feb. 20 at Snoqualmie Pass, Wash., and Feb. 27 at Mt. Hood, OR. www.tubbsromptostomp.com.
