Royal Robbins Expedition Pro Shirt

Finish the Summer With This Great Gear!

The Expedition Pro Long Sleeve Shirt has all the bells and whistles you’ll need for your next outdoor adventure. I wore the shirt river rafting and hiking in the Methow Valley last June and it provided a lightweight, durable and wrinkle-free companion I could stuff in my backpack and then use later at dinner. The built-in 50+ UV offered good sun protection, however, extra sunscreen, lip balm or small snacks will fit nicely in either of two invisible-zippered pockets top-breast or right side. Sleeve tabs provided easy and secure arm roll-up and a ventilated back yoke provided cooling. Constructed of stretchy recycled poly material, its stain-away technology washes out dirt and stains easily. A great all-around go-to shirt. Women’s and men’s sizing in many colors. $85.

Power up with Go Sun’s new SolarPanel 30 charger! This three-panel foldable charger is lightweight, portable and will lay completely flat in any backpack. Folded, the charger measures 9.65 inches x 14 inches and 29 inches x 14 inches unfolded. Campers and outdoor enthusiasts will love its water- and dirt-resistant features as well as open slots on the corners for hanging. My cell phone quickly ramped up 25 percent charge in just half an hour in the full sun; works well on cloudy days. $199

Mountain Hardwear JMT Pack

Finish the Summer With This Great Gear!

Climbing inspired daypacks by Mountain Hardwear just got a reboot with the brand’s smaller, newly launched JMT day pack. The JMT features adjustable, fully padded shoulder straps and hip belt, mesh back panel offering good ventilation, mesh side pouches, Cordura ripstop durability, loops throughout for trekking poles and other accessories, and a top zippered pouch for quick access. Kudos to MH for offering a women’s-specific pack right out of the gate with this new model. Unisex sizing also available. This is the pack we’ve been waiting for! Two sizes: 25L ($140), 35L ($160).

GORE® Wear Passion Shorts

Finish the Summer With This Great Gear!

Even though GORE® designed the Passion shorts as a lightweight, breathable short for mountain and gravel riding, these very durable shorts have been my go-to’s all summer for cycling, hiking, walking and just hanging out. Two front pockets can carry small items but my favorite is the deep pocket on the right hip which holds my cell phone perfectly. The shorts are knee-long, great for cyclists as well as hikers who will benefit from its rugged, abrasion-resistant and quick-drying fabric. GORE® paid attention to getting just the right fit by offering an adjustable waistband with Velcro tabs and grip elastic at the waistband in the back. Available in men’s and women’s sizing, multiple colors to choose from. This is a great all-around short and a good value at $70.

These Pull-On Joggers are simply the best for dress-up, casual wear, errands, or even jogging – which is what Royal Robbins made them for. Constructed of linen and cotton, natural fibers which do well in warm weather, these breathable pants look good, feel great and are ultra-comfortable!  With front and back pockets, elastic at both the waist and cuffs, the Joggers are soft and offer a curvy fit throughout the hip and thigh. Machine washable (cold). I paired the pants with Eddie Bauer’s misty-rose colored Seamless Short-sleeve Crew T-shirt, a soft, stretchy form-fitting pullover, making a nice summer outfit. Jogger Pants: $70; Short-sleeve T-shirt: $50 Carolyn Price is the former publisher of OutdoorsNW. Newly retired, watch for more travel and gear reviews from her.
