Inclement weather causes closures at Olympic National Park
On Thursday, Jan. 12, campgrounds and roads throughout Olympic National Park were closed due to incoming heavy rain and wind, according to a press release by the park.
According to National Weather Service reports, storm activity in Western Washington will likely continue through Jan. 15.
According to the release, these campgrounds are closed due to unsafe conditions:
Quinault Campground
Queets Campground
Kalaloch Campground
Mora Campground
Visitors currently camped at these locations will be offered available space at alternative park campgrounds that remain open.
The release states that the following roads are closed to the high risk of flooding and falling trees:
Upper and Lower Queets Roads
Graves Creek Road
North Fork Quinault Road
Mora Road beyond the Mora Ranger Station
Visitors should monitor weather reports and be aware of their surroundings at all times. Additional closures may occur due to changing weather conditions or emergencies. For more information on visiting the park and current conditions, visit nps.gov/olym.
